Taiwan-based global LGBTQ+ streaming platform, GagaOOLala, has moved, along with its owner, Portico Media, into a whole new international universe this year.
In February, Warner Bros International Television Film announced the acquisition of LGBTQ+ series, Boys Like Boys, for its worldwide formats catalogue, followed a few weeks later, on 5 March, with the premiere of the original unscripted Taiwanese series on Warner Bros Discovery channel, TLC, in Taiwan.
The dating series is WBITV’s first lgbtq+ relationship format, and gives Portico Media/GagaOOLala’s original creation an international berth along with The Bachelor, First Dates and FBoy Island.
WBITV launched the format, which eschews manufactured drama and traditional eliminations in favour of “real reactions to real situations”, to the international market during the London Screenings.

Since 1992 in the United States, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month has been observed and renowned during the month of May.
This May, GLAAD is dedicated to honoring the cultural contributions and influences LGBTQ+ AAPI community members have made, alongside stressing films, TV shows, and other forms of media with significant LGBTQ+ AAPI representation.
During this month, and year round, it’s essential to remember that people of Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Island heritage are not a monolithic community, but rather a group associated by their experiences and histories with distinct and extensive cultural backgrounds, traditions, and ethnicities. Celebrating these communities should be conducted with depth and nuance, and we should sustain listening to community voices to learn how we can best support them.
