Gay & Lesbian Fellowship
You’ve seen the initials “GLF” in bulletins and on posters, but do you know what those letters stand for? NOT a private organization! GLF stands for the Gay and Lesbian Fellowship of the Church of the Transfiguration. The members of this organization struggle to serve Christ in all persons by embracing not only the GLBT community, but their families and friends as well, through opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship and service.
Our members are everywhere: in neXtgen, The Way, Stephen’s Ministers, Flower Guild, Altar Guild, Eucharistic Visitors, Christian Formation, on the Vestry, the Stewardship Committee; almost anywhere you look. Of the current 100 names on our mailing list, we average anywhere from 20 to more than 30 at our monthly First Friday or Saturday evening get-togethers (food, enjoyable, festivity!). Not all attendees are members of The Fig. We welcome all – gay or straight – and the group continues to grow.
We aim to vary the venues for our meetings, which usually, but not always, consist of a pot-luck dinner, with everyone bringing meal and their preference of beverage. We have met in places as diverse as the Church Parlor, members’ ho
Church in the Cliff is part of the Alliance of Baptists.
The Alliance of Baptists began in 1987 as a prophetic voice in Baptist life in the southern U.S. Today, we are a faith community comprised of laity and clergy, people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, racial and ethnic backgrounds, geographical locations, theological beliefs, and ministry practices. We are about 4,500 individual members, roughly 140 congregations, with 36 ministry partners knit together by love for one another and God, combining steady inquiry, contemplative prayer and prophetic action to bring about justice and healing in a altering world.
The founders of the Alliance drafted a covenantthat has been our guidepost for 33 years. Ten years later our mission was added giving shape to our emerging witness. Grounded by the covenant and mission, we have advanced in our ecumenical and interfaith relationships, and in the full inclusion of women and the LGBTQ community in the life and ministry of the church. Our covenant and mission have served as the foundation for our global partnerships, as well as our ecumenical relationships which exaggerate our prophetic voice for justice and love.
Dallasin homoystävälliset kirkot
Toivon katedraalia pidetään maailman suurimpana LGBTQ+ -kirkkona. Kirkko koostuu "ihmisistä, joilla on monia rotuja, etnisiä taustoja, ikäisiä, seksuaalisia suuntautumisia ja sukupuoli-identiteettiä". Voit tutkia heidän seksuaalisuuttaan ja uskoaan koskevia resurssejaan tätä. Toivon katedraalissa voit kokea kristinuskon sen kattavassa muodossaan.
Cathedral of Hope Dallasissa, Texasissa, perustettiin vuonna 1970 Metropolitan Society Church (MCC) -seurakunnaksi, joka on luotu palvelemaan LGBTQ+-kristittyjä. Se tunnettiin alun perin nimellä Metropolitan People Church of Dallas, mutta se kasvoi nopeasti ja siitä tuli yksi suurimmista LGBTQ+-ystävällisistä kirkoista maailmassa. Vuonna 1990 seurakunta muutti suurempaan tilaan ja nimettiin uudelleen Toivon katedraaliksi.
Cathedral of Hope (Dallas, Texas) jumalanpalveluksissa yhdistyvät perinteinen kristillinen jumalanpalvelus, jossa korostetaan vahvasti osallisuutta, sosiaalista oikeudenmukaisuutta ja LGBTQ+-vahvistusta. Saarnat keskittyvät rakkauteen, tasa-arvoon ja henkiseen voimaantumiseen tuomion ja kadotuksen sijaan.
Sunnuntain jumalanpalvelusten lisäksi kirkossa järjestetään keskivi
