Is amy winehouse gay

Few people know that Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” is a cover, so there are several hypotheses out there for why she sang a kind of bluesy, hella bouncy affection song to someone named Valerie: Valerie is a man’s name in the UK. Winehouse was bisexual. It was about a buddy who stopped talking to her because of her drug addiction.

But no one actually knew (real talk; even Genius is clueless). Until now.

The song was originally written and performed by the Zutons, a British band. Valerie Celebrity, a celebrity make-up artist living in New York, told VICE that she used to hang out the band’s frontman, Dave McCabe, and that the lyric is about her.

So we got a hold of McCabe and interrogated him. “Oh yeah, that’s her,” he confirmed, in a stout Liverpool accent. “She’s a sweet girl.”

Amy Winehouse is the newest member of the 27 Club, joining Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain as artists who will forever be 27. Unfortunately, the tragic death of Amy Winehouse has been an opportunity for a litany of jokes, the most cliché of which rapidly comes to mind: “guess she should have gone to rehab.” Ms. Winehouse was open about her bisexuality and was not only a club favorite at many queer dance spaces, her queer fandom was expansive across the Internet and evidenced by her regular appearance on mix CDs from one young gay kid to another. Her death is a tragedy on many levels.

While I find the jokes and snide comments about Amy Winehouse’s death to be insensitive and offensive I also realize that we do not understand how to talk about death, especially death related to addiction. Personally, I hold not simply fallen into this trap, I dove in head-first and can often tell you what my favorite celebri

The 'Back to Black' singer - who married Blake Fielder-Civil in May 2007 but got divorced in August 2009, after Blake filed for divorce on grounds of adultery - reportedly told a friend she has had relationships with women as well as men.

The 26-year-old star revealed to the pal: "So what? I like girls as well. I have had relationships with other women but that doesn't represent I don't still adore Blake. There is something about being with a woman that is very satisfying. I don't take care of what people think about me being bi - I do what feels good."
