Colorful floats will soon glide through Hillcrest as part of the San Diego Pride Parade -- a time-honored tradition in America's Finest City that honors the LGBTQ+ community.
LGBTQ+ members will be joined by allies to march along the route uptown in honor of their continued dial for equity and acceptance. Those who are planning on showing their help by attending the parade can regard the following to plan their trip:
When is the parade?
The San Diego Event Parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19.
Folks can expect the event to be held rain or beam, according to the San Diego LGBT Pride nonprofit organization.
Where to park
Pride organizers are making it easier for participants to arrive by car. Free parking will be on hand at the Elderly Naval Hospital on Park Boulevard and President’s Way. Once there, visitors can take a free shuttle that will drop off passengers at the intersection of Richmond and Essex Streets.
The shuttle service will be available as follows:
- Pride Parade Route 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Catch a free travel from the Mature Naval Hospital parking lots to the Pride Parade. The Shuttle will lower parade goers at Essex and Richmond Street, one

FAQ(S):- Can I bring additional guests to the Parade? YES! You 100% can, in evidence we encourage you to. However, we do contain shuttles that are provided to registrants only. Shuttle space is limited and we'll be in message when we reach capacity, please make other arrangements if you do contain additional guests attending with you. Additional guests will have to fill the safety and liability waiver.
- Will there be accommodations at the Parade? YES! We will have a shuttle with us along the parade route. If you need to ride along with us instead of marching, the shuttle will gradually move with us as we march along the route.
- Can I carry dogs to the Parade? YES! However, it will be an extremely scorching day on Saturday, July 20th. Take any precautions for the wellbeing and safety of your pet.
- Can my dog be on the shuttle? NO! UCSD Policy prohibits pets on the shuttle, but service animals
A weekend of celebration continued, Saturday, with what has become the largest one-day public gathering in San Diego every year. Almost 250,000 people are expected at San Diego Pride events Saturday and Sunday.
The parade down University and Sixth Avenue included contingents from police to performers of every kind. There was also representation of LGBTQ+ people and their allies from churches, society health organizations, and local bars.
It's tradition that the march begins with the revved engines of motorcycle riders who proudly ring themselves ‘Dykes on Bikes’.
