Rainbow Mountain Resort is gay-owned and operated with a restaurant and nightclub nestled tall atop a mountainside on 25 confidential acres, including a two-acre pond. For a queer-friendly wait, there’s a pool and dance club for those missing a bit of nightlife. Rooms are tastefully designed and bookings come with a free continental breakfast.

The main lodge was built in the 1900s. Over the decades, other buildings were added; some in the 1950s and others in the 60s. It’s homey – think Dirty Dancing and kitschy Catskills of days gone by, and hold the time of your life.

The unassuming rooms feature free WiFi and common bathrooms. Upgraded rooms add TVs, air-conditioning, and en suite bathrooms. Some hold mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. Cozy cottages/cabins offer private porches.

Into glamping? There are three tents on the Rainbow Resort property that approach with a queen-sized bed and fire-pit. Tent guests hold full access to the resort’s amenities.
