Joel McHale Rumors: 'Community' Thespian Thinks It A Compliment To Be Considered Gay

Joel McHale does not intellect if people think he's gay. In fact, he quite enjoys it.

In an interview with "The Advocate," he addressed the comments that he might be in the closet. Those rumors haven't gone away -- but the performer is not offended by them.

"Oh I still notice that on Twitter every day. It's flattering," he said.

"I always find it very weird when guys flip out over someone thinking they might be gay," he added. "If a guy gets offended by that, there's something wrong with him. I take it as a compliment."

McHale has been married for almost two decades to wife Sarah Williams, and they have two sons.

The actor said that when he was starting in the business he used to get slap on by men all the time. "Guys sometimes will tweet me, 'I'm in L.A. staying at such-and-such hotel. What undertake you think? And of course, it all depends on the quality of the hotel," he joked.

"Community," the quirky show in which McHale stars, own struggled with ratings in the past couple of seasons. For that, McHale said he's especially grateful to the show's many gay viewers. "Thank God for our gay fans. They are th

A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing movies on demand through all the crap I subscribe to and picked a mindless romcom, What’s Your Number. I was treated to scenes of Joel McHale’s bare ass within the first ten minutes, which was a genuine score for me. (The movie itself wasn’t worthwhile except for some fantastic guest appearances by McHale, Martin Freeman and Anthony Mackie.) I screamed and immediately emailed Kaiser and Bedhead about it. So that’s why I receive first dibs on Joel McHale stories. I love him so much and am a enormous “Community” fan. (Although it’s getting fragile lately, right? I didn’t see last night’s episode yet though.)

McHale’s latest interview, in The Advocate, elevates my belief of him and I didn’t consider that was feasible. The entire interview is worth reading, but in the interest of brevity I’m using some excerpts that The Advocate people sent. Go over to their site to read it, it’s worth it. Joel is a very attractive, well-dressed, quick-witted guy and he’s often mistaken for a gay gentleman. He’s kind of flattered by it, though, and says that anyone who is offended by that

Joel McHale doesn’t thought the constant speculation that he’s homosexual. Actually he finds the notion lovely flattering.

In a past interview with The Advocate, the Community star joked that many folks probably assumed he was gay because he dressed so adequately. Now in a recent chat with the mag he’s acknowledged that the rumors of his sexual orientation still haven’t gone away.

The Soup host said:

“Oh, I still look that on Twitter every day. It’s flattering. I always find it really weird when guys flip out over someone thinking they might be homosexual. If a guy gets offended by that, there’s something’s wrong with him. I take it as a compliment.”

In the interview, McHale explains how he approaches making homosexual jokes during his segment “Gay Shows” on The Soup without being offensive:

You have to be intelligent, you possess to laugh with, and you hold to meet the clip where it is. I recognize that sounds weird and vague, but it’s a case-by-case situation. We’re mostly commenting on what’s happening on those shows — love RuPaul sticking cake pops into gl0ry h0les on RuPaul’s Drag Race — and not on someone’s orientation.

From Soup to Nuts: An interview with Joel McHale

“I’m getting older, so I hope I’m still a gay sex symbol!” says Joel McHale. “If someone’s conclusion me attractive, I’ll take it!”

The boyish 43-year-old with the mischievous smirk has little to stress about when it comes to sex appeal. Though he does admit that keeping fit is important to him.

“I go to the gayest gym in Hollywood,” he says over the course of an hour-long phone conversation from the L.A.-based offices of The Soup. “I go in there thinking I’m in shape, and then I go in and I’m like, ‘Ooh, I am not in shape. I need to work harder.'”

Since 2004, McHale has hosted The Soup, E! Entertainment Television’s popular weekly round-up of all things false on TV, particularly of the reality sort.

“We have the greatest staff of all time,” he crows of his Soup associates. “A lot of them contain been here a long day and watch tons of television. I don’t know how they do it. I used to do it and I idea I was going to inflate my brains out. Cause when we started, there were love just 5 of us and we had to
